Collection: Albott Bonhomme (Haitian, b. 1963)

Self-taught artist Albott Bonhomme, born in 1963 in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, is widely recognized for his vibrant paintings of tropical birds set within lush, oasis-like forest environments. Since becoming a professional artist in 1990, Bonhomme has developed a distinctive style that blends detailed wildlife imagery with rich, atmospheric landscapes. His work is especially admired by collectors in the United States and Japan and has been exhibited internationally. Bonhomme’s tropical forest scenes often reflect the environmental concerns facing Haiti today. As noted by Gérald Alexis in Peintres Haïtiens (Éditions Cercle d’Art, 2000), his compositions “powerfully illustrate the environmental challenges confronting Haiti.” Through his evocative portrayals of nature, Bonhomme invites viewers to appreciate both the beauty and fragility of the Haitian landscape.
