Collection: Michel M. Obin (Cap-Haitian, b.1949)

Michel M. Obin (born 1949) is a Haitian artist and the grandson of the late, celebrated painter Sénéque Obin, a key figure associated with the Cap-Haïtien tradition. Continuing this important lineage, Michel M. Obin is known for the two-dimensional, “primitive” style of the Cap-Haïtien School—defined by flattened space, precise contours, simplified forms, and a strong emphasis on narrative. His paintings favor clarity and structure, presenting scenes with direct storytelling and an unmistakable visual rhythm that connects contemporary practice to Haiti’s historic painting traditions.
