Description

Joseph Jean-Gilles surveys a broad valley from an elevated vantage point, a cluster of thatched-roof houses settled among terraced hillsides threaded with narrow streams and footpaths. Small figures move through the fields and along the winding roads, tending crops and flowering plants that spill toward the foreground in dense, layered detail. Distant peaks soften into a hazy sky, giving the composition a sense of depth that draws the eye from the village center outward across the countryside. The painting reflects Jean-Gilles' characteristic patience with landscape, built from a multitude of small, deliberate marks. This piece comes from a private collection in Florida and is in good condition. We will provide a Certificate of Authenticity.
