Description

Valley of Watchful Wings (2025) by Albott Bonhomme presents a lush tropical landscape shaped by depth, balance, and quiet observation. Dense vegetation—layered banana leaves, bamboo stalks, palms, and flowering plants—frames a winding waterway that descends through the center of the composition in a series of gentle cascades. The flowing river and waterfall guide the viewer’s eye inward, creating a sense of movement through an otherwise serene, enclosed environment. Three birds animate the upper register of the painting: two perched in quiet dialogue and another hovering nearby. Their presence introduces a subtle interplay between stillness and motion, suggesting vigilance, harmony, and continuity within the natural world. Bonhomme’s palette is dominated by nuanced greens, enriched with accents of red, yellow, and soft earth tones, producing a luminous atmosphere that feels both immersive and contemplative. Executed in acrylic on canvas, the painting reflects Bonhomme’s distinctive nature-inspired approach, blending careful observation with poetic imagination. The work speaks to themes of sanctuary, ecological balance, and the enduring rhythms of tropical landscapes, making it a compelling acquisition for collectors of Haitian art, Caribbean landscape painting, and contemporary works centered on flora and fauna. The painting is in good condition. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and bears the inscription “#x-013079.” Upon purchase, Myriam Nader Art Gallery will proudly issue a Certificate of Authenticity.
