Description

Still Waters, Gentle Wings (2025) by Albott Bonhomme presents a tranquil tropical landscape defined by balance, symmetry, and quiet observation. Dense vegetation—bamboo stalks, broad banana leaves, palms, and flowering foliage—frames a calm river that flows gently through the center of the composition, receding toward a softly illuminated horizon. The water acts as a reflective passage, drawing the viewer inward and reinforcing a sense of stillness and continuity. Three birds animate the scene with measured restraint. Two perch together on a branch to the right, while a third appears at left, creating a visual dialogue across the composition. Their presence introduces themes of harmony, watchfulness, and coexistence within the natural environment. Bonhomme’s palette is dominated by layered greens, softened by pale atmospheric tones and punctuated by subtle accents of red and yellow, lending the work a serene, dreamlike quality. Executed in acrylic on canvas, the painting reflects Bonhomme’s distinctive approach to nature-inspired Haitian painting, blending careful observation with poetic imagination. The work speaks to sanctuary, ecological balance, and the quiet rhythms of tropical landscapes, making it a compelling acquisition for collectors of Haitian art, Caribbean landscape painting, and contemporary works centered on flora and fauna. The painting is in good condition. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and bears the inscription “#x-013078A.” Upon purchase, Myriam Nader Art Gallery will proudly issue a Certificate of Authenticity.
