Description

This luminous 16 x 24 inch oil on canvas by Cabrini Demesmin captures the tranquil beauty of a Haitian shoreline bathed in radiant Caribbean light. A gently curving beach lined with wind-swept palm trees frames crystalline turquoise waters, where a small fishing boat drifts near shore. In the foreground, a solitary female figure stands at the water’s edge, her reflection shimmering in the wet sand, while a fisherman tends to his vessel just beyond the breaking waves. Demesmin’s refined realism is evident in the atmospheric depth, fluid brushwork, and nuanced gradations of sea and sky. The diagonal sweep of the shoreline leads the viewer into the composition, creating both movement and serenity. The interplay of sunlight, shadow, and reflective water demonstrates the artist’s sensitivity to tropical light and coastal landscape. Beach and marine scenes hold a significant place within Haitian art, symbolizing daily life, sustenance, and the island’s enduring relationship with the sea. Demesmin’s interpretation emphasizes harmony and luminosity, making this work both visually captivating and highly collectible. Acrylic on canvas, 16 x 24 inches. Signed and dated. Unframed. Provenance: Private Collection. Certificate of Authenticity issued by Myriam Nader Haitian Art Gallery.
