Frantz Mosanto is a self-taught Haitian artist who moved to Port-au-Prince at twelve, where he quickly began to hone his skills in drawing and sculpting. By the age of 18, he had transitioned to painting on canvas, driven by a profound concern for the devastating state of Haiti's landscape. Mosanto envisions a transformed Haiti, one where deforestation is a thing of the past and reforestation is embraced. His artwork powerfully captures his aspirations, depicting vibrant green mountains, majestic trees, and crystal-clear rivers—symbols of his dreams for a revitalized nation. He has exhibited his work extensively in the United States and Europe, earning recognition in numerous Haitian art books. Gérald Alexis rightly emphasizes in "Peintres Haïtiens" (2000) that Mosanto is “a landscape artist who takes considerable pains in depicting details and perspective.” His commitment to his vision for Haiti is unmistakable.
