What a beautiful artwork painted by the late Haitian master Tebo to add to your art collection! "Despite Thebaud's vivid colors, it is more in his use of lines that his works take form" says Gerald Alexis in his book Peintres Haitiens.
About this artist
Sacha Thébaud, known as Tebó (1934–2012), was a Haitian painter and architect born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and is recognized as a pioneer of encaustic painting in Haitian art. He studied at Collège Stanislas in Montréal and later at the University of Miami, where he pursued architectural engineering and fine arts before continuing his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on a French government scholarship.
Working with a mixture of beeswax, pigment, and heat, Tebó developed luminous encaustic compositions that combined architectural structure with symbolic imagery inspired by Haitian culture and landscape. He is also credited with introducing and teaching the encaustic technique to several Haitian artists, including Arijac, helping shape an important direction in modern Haitian painting.
