About this artist
About this artist
Telemaque Obin, a prominent Haitian artist and the son of the celebrated painter Philome Obin, was born in 1915 in Cap-Haitien. After completing high school in Port-au-Prince, he made the decisive choice to return to Cap-Haitien and immerse himself in the study of painting under his father's mentorship. Although he spent 35 years working as a watchmaker, he firmly committed to his passion for painting in 1966. Obin's artwork predominantly features country scenes, with green as his signature color. He masterfully employs the two-dimensional, primitive style characteristic of the Cap-Haitian School. Notably, the exact date of his death remains unknown.
